For the past few years, I have mainly concentrated my time on portraiture, using Acrylics & Oils, on canvas or Arches oil paper, & Water colour & Gouache resist on Bamboo paper.
Recording moments present & past in my family history. Many taken from old family photos past down to me recently.
Many of these selected pieces were shown in a solo exhibition at The Ice House Gallery earlier last year.
larger in size than previous work, in oil or acrylic, & on canvas, smaller pieces are painted on Arches paper.
'The Ice House' was produced as a limited edition original prints, in conjunction with a solo exhibition of my work, held within this pretty & historical building, set in Holland Park, London in late May early June 2016.
My drawings are mostly charcoal studies, I like the intensity & contrasts I can achieve with this medium.
Along with my mostly figurative work, I like to create paintings from a wider choice of subject matter, hence this gallery containing a selection of pieces produced over the past two years.
Little scenes recorded on my travels, trees having a particularly special interest to me.
We spend considerable time in our days waiting, at bus stops, appointments, in waiting rooms, & cafes etc...
I take advantage of these situations, to sketch or take notes on what I see around me.
Spending part of the year in southern Spain, I take advantage of an active & lively promenade, several miles long, another source of subject matter for my paintings.
